These portrait works move away from direct likeness, focusing instead on presence and emotional register. Faces are softened or partially obscured, creating a sense of closeness that is never fully resolved.
There is a subtle tension between intimacy and distance, where the subject appears both available and withheld, and identity remains open rather than defined.
